My 100th day of #100daysOfCode!

My 100th day happened last September 17th. That moment was a small win for me so I wrote this on my notes which I wanna share with you today.

3 things to be thankful for:

  • You are doing your best to learn how to code.
  • You have that mental shift of being curious when you can't make things work. Why doesn't it work, how it will work and why it works?
  • You became self-aware of your bad habits whenever you encounter difficulties and you do something small to make a change.

3 things I learned along the journey:

Patience.

Be patient. It might not be easy at first. You can't get it on the first try. But if you just have to be patient and keep trying then you'll see progress, it may be small but still, it is progress. Understand that every developer now had been once a beginner. They struggled too at first but they kept doing it and got better over time. Accept that it is hard, that you don't know everything, and you will do everything to learn, just understand and practice it daily.

Consistent.

I started it a few years ago but never consistent. So 3 and a half months ago, I committed to doing it consistently for 100days. May it be 10minutes or 8hours a day. What matters is I sit down in my working area, open my laptop and do some coding. I immersed myself with tech, read articles in medium, watch tutorials on youtube, and listen to tech podcasts. Being in this journey, one must be consistent and practice it daily. It's like learning a language, you have to practice it daily to become fluent. Whereas in coding, you are going to work on a computer so you must learn the language a computer understands to be able to talk to it.

Focus.

In our world today, we are blessed to have a lot of free information online. We can learn anything we want online. Learning how to code is daunting and overwhelming. So I have to learn to focus only on my priority which is front-end development at the moment. Focusing on what matters now can help me to learn faster and get rid of distractions.

This is one of the best things I have ever done in my web development journey. If I didn't start, I wouldn't be able to become the person I am today. I have grown into a better person and I will forever be grateful that I did it anyway.

Consistensy is the key to become better at something.
